Common test 1: Drop a drop of ink on the back of the stone. If the ink is quickly dispersed and leached everywhere, it means that the internal particles of the stone are loose and the quality is poor; However, if the ink drops do not penetrate, the stone is dense and of good quality.
Marble
In fact, this is a simple test of the water absorption of stone. If the ink drops do not penetrate, it may indicate that the texture of stone is relatively dense and the water absorption is low. Marble is usually coated with a layer of protective agent to prevent the penetration of stains. Even if the customer sees that the ink drops are impermeable, it is likely that the protective agent is playing a role, rather than the performance of the stone itself. In addition, if the water on the back of the stone is in the form of beads, it means that it is difficult to absorb water when it has been coated with protective agent, which may also lead to its failure to fit with the cement. Therefore, it can be considered that the smaller the water absorption on the front of the marble is, the better. However, it should also be considered whether the back of the marble can bond well with cement adhesives.
Common test 2: vinegar will react with marble to generate calcium acetate, so dropping vinegar on marble will cause the surface of stone to change and become rough, so we can see whether it is real marble.
This test is reasonable in principle, but due to the weak acidity of acetic acid itself, the test requires a long reaction time. Consumers can't see the results for a while, but the effect of using dilute hydrochloric acid is obvious.
Common test 3: Knock the marble and pay attention to the sound. If the sound is clear, it indicates that the product quality is good, and the interior is fine and uniform without cracks; If the sound is rough, it indicates that there are cracks and loose texture in the marble.
This test can only show that the texture of stone is hard, brittle and high in strength. It cannot be used as a standard to judge whether the stone is good or not, because the sound made by the stone has a certain relationship with its variety and size. This kind of marble with high strength is more suitable for the ground.
