1. Marble Carving Art - Round Sculpture
Round sculpture, also known as stereoscopic sculpture, is the overall expression of art on the sculpture. The viewer can see all sides of the object from different angles. It requires the sculptor to carve from the front, back, left, right, top, middle and bottom. It is the most basic technique in stone carving.
The round sculpture is usually carved from the front, and at the same time, it requires special attention to the unity and harmony of all angles and directions of the work. Only in this way can the round sculpture stand up to the full range of viewers.
Because the round sculpture works are very stereoscopic, vivid, lifelike and vivid, the selection of marble for the round sculpture is relatively strict. The length and width of the round sculpture must be in proper proportion to the real object, and then the sculptors can "blank" according to the proportion. "Blanking" is the first procedure and also an important link in round carving. Especially for large round carving works, it is necessary to "blank" on the soil first, and then "blank" on the marble formally after the "mud draft" is revised. The purpose of "shaping" is to ensure that each part of the sculpture works can meet the strict proportion requirements, and then use the knife to carve vivid works.
With the passage of time, the subject matter of stone carving has been broadened, and the techniques of stone carving have also been enriched and developed. On the basis of the techniques of round carving, carving and chain carving have emerged. In terms of expression content, it has also developed from an independent individual to a large group sculpture combining figures, animals and landscapes, which makes the round sculpture more rich and perfect from techniques to work content. The same round sculpture is often a combination of techniques such as round sculpture, carving, chain sculpture, etc.
