1. Nephrite pays more attention to the internal charm of history and carving than jadeite. For the same piece of jade (nephrite), if it is an ancient jade (nephrite), its value will be much higher.
2. Jadeite pays more attention to color and size than nephrite. A new jade (jadeite) with good texture is more valuable than an ancient jade (jadeite).
3. Both pay attention to "water head". But nephrite is "inside" and jadeite is "outside". Under the light, nephrite is gray in color, while jadeite is dazzling. Of course, the implication is different.
Formation of seed jade: seed jade (seed material or water material) is formed from mountain materials, which are continuously cracked and collapsed by glaciers, washed into river channels by earthquake weathering or flood in rainy seasons, and eroded by long-term collision and erosion of river water. The remaining texture of seed jade (seed material or water material), which is soaked, washed and polished by water for many years, is fine waxy, moist, dense, and has the luster of jade liquid, so the seed jade is the best quality and a treasure of jade.
Yulong Kashi River: Yulong Kashi River, the famous Baiyu River in ancient times. This river originates from Kunlun Mountain. After flowing into the Tarim Basin, it joins the Karakash River and forms the Hetian River. The river is 325 kilometers long and has many tributaries. The drainage area is 14500 square kilometers. The river is rich in white jade, blue jade and black jade, which has been the main river producing jade in Hetian since ancient times. People pick jade mainly in the middle reaches, while the upper reaches are difficult to reach because of the dangerous terrain. After the discovery of white jade in Heishan area (one of the birthplaces of seed jade), it brought new hope to the jade seekers, and people ventured there. Montenegro, known as Kalonguetak in ancient times, is one of the main peaks of Kunlun Mountain, with a peak of 7562 meters. The mountains are high and covered with ice and snow. Jade is produced in Agju Gai Valley, which is one of the tributaries of the Yulong Kashi River. It is more than 30 kilometers away from the Lishan brigade in Kashtashi Township. Ice deposits are widespread in some river sections, with hillsides collapsing and boulders everywhere. Only people can reach it on foot. Glaciers are everywhere above the snow line, with an altitude of more than 5000 meters and a relative height of 600-1000 meters. Hotan jade gravels carried from the upper source are often found at the front edge of the glacier tongue as the glacier moves down to the snow line and gradually melts.
The tongue of the glacier is as high as tens to hundreds of meters. In sunny days, it is constantly cracked and collapsed. With the loud sound of thunder, boulders and ice pieces tumble down into the river, so you can find beautiful jade under the glacier. There is a daily flood of snow melt water. The flood washes huge ice blocks down the river. These ice blocks and ice layers also show jade gravel after melting. The jade produced includes white jade and black jade. This area should have primary Hetian jade deposit, which is one of the main sources of neutron jade in Yulong Kashi River. Yulong Kashi River is about 20 minutes' drive from the downtown of Hotan. White seed jade is produced 50 kilometers upstream of the river, and seed jade with skin is generally produced in the downstream of the river. After mountain torrents, local people often have the habit of picking up jade in the river in winter and spring. They pick up jade mainly in the middle reaches of the river. The upstream and downstream are difficult to reach because of the dangerous terrain.
Hotan Jade Origin: Hotan Jade is distributed in the Kunlun Mountains in the south of the Tarim Basin It starts from Andalitag and Arazi Mountain in the east of Tashkurgan County in Kashgar Prefecture in the west, Sangzhu Tage, Tielikettag and Liushitag in the south of Hotan Prefecture in the middle, and ends at Suramuningtag in the north of Altun Mountain in the south of Qiemo County in the east. Hetian jade ore belt is more than 1100 kilometers long. The primary mineral deposits and occurrences of Hotan Jade are distributed on the high mountains, with an altitude of more than 4000 meters. Many rivers also produce precious Hotan Jade.
